Peshawar high court on Tuesday banned former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf to contest in polls for life time.
A four-judge bench headed by chief justice Dost Muhammad Khan dismissed former military ruler Musharraf’s plea which challenged the rejection of his nomination papers for upcoming general election in Pakistan.
The bench said that the lifetime ban was imposed on Musharraf due his attempt to abrogate the Constitution twice and detention of judges during the 2007 emergency. Court also said that Musharraf is banned from contesting any kind of polls, be it national or provincial assemblies.
Musharraf’s lawyers, Saad Shibli, later said that he would challenge the verdict in the Supreme Court.
