The new edition of Charlie Hebdo has gone for an unprecedented print run of 3 Million copies. The newspaper came out with its Wednesday edition, a week after its headquarters in Paris were attacked and 12 were mercilessly killed. This edition has been published in multiple languages.
This week’s edition, which is now available for sale, has the Prophet Muhammad on its cover, crying and holding a signboard saying Je Suis Charlie (I am with Charlie).
The cartoons mocking the Prophet are said to have instigated the last week’s attack on Charlie Hebdo’s offices. In the attack, the militants had targetted cartoonists of the satirical newspaper.
Je Suis Charlie (I am with Charlie) had been trending worldwide in the aftermath of the attack and people had taken to streets to rally and condemn the attack.
France’s Prime Minister said in a recent statement that his country was at a war with extremism and terrorism- but not Muslims.
After the attack on Charlie Hebdo, many Muslims too, had joined the rallies that took place in the country.
A week after the attack, France remains on a high alert and security officials, in high numbers, have been deployed in the country.
