David Cameron has strongly criticised Pope Francis for his claim on Falklands.
The British Prime Minister on Friday said, “The white smoke over the future of Falklands is pretty clear.” “I don’t agree with the Pope, respectfully. We have seen an extraordinarily clear referendum and people have chosen to be with Britain and their choice must be respected,” he said.
Sending out a strong message to Argentina, Cameron asked Argentina to accept the wish of people Falkland Islands. A recent referendum shows 99.8% people want to remain with Britain.
Argentina has rejected the referendum saying it was irrelevant.
“It’s the clearest possible result there could be,” he said.
Pope Francis on Thursday said, “Las Malvinas (Falklands) is ours,”
Pope Francis who comes from Argentina said, “not to forget those who had fallen during the war” as they had “shed their blood on Argentine soil”.
Last year Jorge Mario Bergoglio (original name of Pople Francis) had said, “We come to pray for all who have fallen, sons of the homeland who went out to defend their mother, the homeland, and to reclaim what is theirs, that is of the homeland, and it was usurped.”
He urged Argentinian people “not to forget those who had fallen during the war”
“Many scars, many families destroyed by permanent absence or a return cut short. The country needs to remember them all,” he said.
