Friday saw panic resurfacing among the common masses as an Indian woman working for an international aids association was abducted in the Afghan capital, Kabul.
The woman, Judith D’Souza, who works for the Aga Khan Foundation of widespread acclaim, is reported to have been illegally picked up the night before from the Taimani area, remarked her sister Agnes from their hometown Kolkata. Her family said on Friday and her country’s foreign minister promised to do everything possible to rescue her.
The news about the kidnapping was delivered to the family on a phone call from the Indian Embassy authorities in Kabul, in the wee hours on Friday. The family is currently flummoxed and in a state of dilemma. Reacting to the incident, Indian foreign minister Sushma Swaraj has assured that they shall strive and provide their best to do everything that is in their hands to get her back.
The Aga Khan Foundation is a pivotal part of the huge Aga Khan Development Network, which has shelled out massive portions of finance that have been utilised in the re-modelling of Afghanistan. In a statement that is believed to have been released by the organisation, it was said that ‘an unnamed staff member had been abducted’, but refused divulging any details further. Afghan government authorities, however, remained out of reach for their take on the incident. Meanwhile, the militant outfit Taliban is being quoted to be behind the happening.
