A gun conflict between the “hostile” rival bikers gang in Waco, Texas, lead to the death of 9 and left 18 injured on Sunday. A scuffle that broke between three gangs, escalated simultaneously at a sports bar in a shopping mall, in the central Texas city. Gun rounds were fired in the parking lot and stabbing took place as the squabble agitated.
The police officials rushed in immediately after rounds of gunshots fired, were heard. The police resorted to a few gunshots to attempt to stop the dangerous fight. Eighteen people were rushed to the hospital with injuries.
Waco Police Sgt., Patrick Swanton told the press, “The fight, which involved members of at least three gangs, erupted shortly after noon and quickly escalated into a brawl involving clubs, knives and chains”, while adding, “The fight may have been tied to a dispute over a parking spot.”
Bodies were strewn in the parking lot once the situation was under control and the shooting ended. Among the fatalities, eight died on the spot, while one died in the hospital. Those died belonged to the gangs and no police officer or innocent person lost life.
Some businesses in the area were shut down following the incident and police officers adjured people to stay away from the area where the scuffle broke and firing took place. Police said it had received an intelligence input of other gang members coming to the place for what they called “payback”. The police also arrested three gang members who were attempting to barge into the crime scene.
