In the wake of the recent attack in Paris, Hannover Stadium was evacuated by German security officials over security reasons, ahead of the Germany-Netherlands match. The match was subsequently called off as a suitcase was found in the premises, which raised alarms and security concerns in the stadium. Citing threats the gathered spectators were asked to leave the stadium as quickly as possible. German Vice-Chancellor Angela Merkel, who was also present in the stadium was immediately escorted from the venue.
