US Federal Trade Commission has asked Google to pay $ 22.5 million fine for violating default privacy norms of the Apple’s web browser, Safari. Google has allegedly violated the privacy settlement between the company and the FTC.
According to FTC Google did not keep their promises to the users of Safari that it would not place tracking “cookies” or provide targeted ads to the consumers. In reality Google exploited the browser’s default setting by placing a temporary cookie at the DoubleClick domain.
FTC wants to ensure privacy policy intact for the users and companies should live up to their promises to consumers on privacy issue.
