Volkswagen’s controversial brand chief, Herbert Diess, has said that he will not step down despite the ongoing investigation by public prosecutors on probable market manipulation.
The company confirmed last month that Herbert Diess, indeed, is being investigated by the Braunschweig prosecutors for his alleged role in market manipulation and carmaker violation by not informing investors on emissions tests.
In a recent interview with German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Diess said he was not considering about resignation and “It’s not up for debate.”
He said that Volkswagen’s reputation will take 12-18 months to recover from the crisis and it will now focus on more information technology and battery experts.
“We must become more efficient, or else we won’t be able to afford the transformation,” he said.
