Indian automaker giant Maruti Suzuki has unveiled two concept car – sedan Ciaz and crossover SX4 S-Cross at the Auto Expo 2014 on Wednesday.
“The SX4 S-Cross and Ciaz are models to expand our product range in future,” said, Kenichi Ayukawa, MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India.
With the launch of these two cars the competition will be tougher in C segment sedans in the domestic market.
“In 2004, we had the first global model launch of Swift and these two are in line with that…The two cars we are unveiling today are aimed to meet the growing demand of sedans in India, China and elsewhere,” said T Suzuki, executive vice president, Suzuki Motor Corp.
Admitting that the sales of cars are slowing down in India, Ayukawa said: “The automobile market in India is on a slowdown. Our effort is to achieve sales of last (fiscal) year in this year.”
Maruti had reportedly sold over 10.6 lakh units in India last financial year.
Maruti Suzuki has also displayed several excising models including Swift, Alto, Ritz, Ertiga and Dzire at the Auto Expo.
