The Aston Martin One-77 is a two-door coupé built by Aston Martin. The Aston Martin One-77 will have a limited run of 77 units with delivery starting in October 2010.
It claims to be giving Bugatti Veyron (designed and developed by the German Volkswagen Group and produced by Bugatti Automobiles SAS, France), which has been known to be the world’s most expensive car, a run for its money.
The limited edition Aston Martin One-77, priced at about $2.3 million (approximately Rs. 11.10 crore), is claimed to have replaced the $1.4 million worth Bugatti Veyron from the top spot. “The One-77 will be available to Indian buyers at a price of R 20 crore or more, making it the most expensive car in the world,” says Lalit Choudary, Director, Performance Cars Pvt Ltd, a division of Infinity Cars Pvt Ltd. The car can be customised extensively and the the cost of any particular One-77 can depend a lot on the customisation involved.
Of the 77 cars that will ever be made under this model, only seven (7) are on offer for Indian buyers. The rest of the coupes are said to have been sold already. Choudhury, without specifying gthe exact numbers, has confirmed that only a handful of these cars will be available in India.
Its 7.3 litre unit has been tuned to produce 750 bhp which is said to be one of the highest outputs from a V-12 engine anywhere in the world. This car is assembled by hand and It takes 27 technicians and 2700 hours to put it together.
Though Mumbai roads are possibly not the most ideal to bet Rs 20-odd crore on, Choudary is optimistic that the Aston Martin One-77 will find a market among India’s affluent few. “We’re sure we will manage to sell them. The exclusivity attached to the car is something very rare,” he adds.
