Images that were emerging from the site of the blast at the airport indicated severe damage to the property. The airport building and premises were evacuated and security measures were undertaken. Brussels airport tweeted about the incident, asking the passengers to not come to the airport. All flights have been cancelled until further notice.
Media reports also claimed that shots were heard prior to the blasts. However, no official confirmation was available at the time of filing this report. People were shifted to the other areas at the airport by the security officials.
EU staff has been asked to stay indoors by authorities, following the attacks. Several significant people like British PM David Cameron, Pakistani PM Nawaz Shareef have expressed their condolences, and ‘strongly condemned’ the Brussels attacks.
Three suicide belts have been found in Brussels airport. 13 deaths have been reported.
