The total debt of Air India currently stands at Rs 43,777 crore.
Vayalar Ravi, Minister for Civil Aviation, Government of India, informed Rajya Sabha:”The total debt of Air India, consisting of aircraft loans and working capital bank loan aggregates Rs 43,777.01 crore. The working capital loan is Rs 21511.10 while the aircraft loan is Rs 21412.06.”
The airlines lines incurred a total loss of about Rs.18,000 crore (including a provisional estimate of RS.6994 crore during the year 2010-11).
Mr.Ravi said that the government has infused fresh equity of Rs 3,200 crore to help the airline.
The airline has prepared a plan for financial restructuring and help it bounce back.
