Singapore Airlines and Tata Son’s first ever carrier flight Vistara – wherein the Tata’s hold a majority of 51 per cent and Singapore Airlines hold a tarrying 49 percent – is all set to give a tough competition to the other airlines. The airlines have lowered the ticket prices, hence competing with the rivals.
Fares have plunged to almost half, last week, as per the data from portals and the airlines’ own website.
Makemytrip, India’s largest online portal, by sales, has recorded that this new airline is at the same price or lower than most of its rival airlines.
Vistara, which runs 10 flights between Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad respectively, has considerably reduced its prices from the last week. For an instance, a Delhi- Mumbai ticket price, booked over a month prior, priced Rs. 5481 compared to Rs. 10,700 of the last week. The prices are even lower than most of the low cost airlines like IndiGo.
Till date, Vistara has not announced any new discounts or offers for the coming vacation season, which commences from January and continues till April.
As quoted in The Times Of India, Makemytrip shows the price for a Vistara ticket for a Mumbai-Delhi flight for January 23 is at slightly over Rs 9,398, just Rs 200 higher than what the lowest fare offered by budget carrier GoAir.
Gripping the sales, Vistara sells over 300 tickets every day by India’s travel agents, but to its disappointment, Vistara’s close rival, Air India has just announced a 50 per cent discount up till April.
