Uber’s investment to fuel outside the U.S.

The U.S. Based aggregator firm Uber has taken a decision to invest generously in Hyderabad, being the first biggest facility outside U.S. To get such a huge amount. The investment is roughly over $50 million in the next 5 years.
The MoU has stated that Uber and the State government will work towards creating thousands of jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities.
“This is the first time Uber has entered into this kind of MoU with any state government in India,” said Siddharth Shanker, general manager, Hyderabad, Uber.
“Uber will invest upwards of $50 million in Hyderabad over the next five years to establish a state-of-the-art facility that will house around 500 employees. Hyderabad was always the preferred choice. The supportive and forward-thinking government, deep talent pool, excellent real estate and high standard of living were key factors that influenced this decision,” said Shanker.
Also adding that Uber will collaborate with the Telangana Academy for Skills and Knowledge (TASK) to pick and train over 2,000 cabbies who will then fit to employ for Uber as cabbies.
For successful candidates of the TASK programme, ownership of the vehicles and economic support can be considered as the further perks.
This announcement has poured in as “the cab aggregator has been implementing its first cash payment experiment globally in the city since April. Uber is available in over 328 cities in 58 countries and in India it has rolled out services in 18 cities.” As quoted in TOI.
