Sahara group chairman Subrata Roy has appeared before SEBI today to give details of Sahara’s assets and refund structure of approximately Rs 24,000 crore to investors.
Sahara chief said that the return of money to over three crore investors is delaying by SEBI.
“SEBI has wasted time by not verifying the base of the investors we have provided to them. We have given SEBI all documents. The investors have been paid. Those who haven’t been paid, their payments are with SEBI,” Subrata Roy told reporters after the meet.
Slamming SEBI for asking about his personal assets, Subrata Roy told reporters, “My personal assets appear to have troubled Sebi…I was asked about my personal assets and I told them that I have declared all my assets.”
” I told SEBI to focus on returning money to those who have not got money, told them to start verification, to call my team and verify all documents. If verification is not done how will truth be proved? SEBI ko pareshani ho gayi hogi meri personal assets jaankar. My personal assets is Rs 3 crore cash and in bank Rs 34 lakh. The remaining is immovable property. SEBI should set priorities and return money of investors,” Roy added.
Sahara claimed that so far it has refunded nearly 20,000 crore to the investors.
Three Sahara Executives – Ashok Roy Choudhary, Ravi Shankar Dubey and Vandana Bhargava – were also appeared before Sebi.
