Indigo Airlines and Jet Airways have pulled out inventory from India’s biggest travel portal makemytrip.com amid the protest against the ‘opaque fares’ scheme launched by the website.
It would be a big blow to Makemytrip as together Indigo Airlines and Jet Airways cover more than 50% market share in domestic flight.
As per media reports, both the airlines had issue with Makemytrip’s random display of fares at their portal and opaque pricing. As per them it was a violation with DGCA directive and norms. Both of them had raised their concern with makemytrip many times but there was no solution given. Therefore these two major Airlines have minimized their presence in the portal and ultimately pulled out the content.
On the other hand, Makemytrip said it is unfortunate that these two have taken the ultimate step, there is no fault from their end as all the fares and content is controlled by the airlines and the special fares have also displayed after their approvals.
