The Indian government has urged the European Union to lift a ban on Indian mangoes and assured that there will be no compromise in the quality.
EU has banned premium Indian Alphonso mangoes across 28 countries for one year after authorities in Brussels found infected fruit flies in March consignments.
Director General of the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) Ajay Sahai informed media that the FIEO along with the union trade ministry have asked Brussels to lift the ban.
“Since we got to know about the issue in March, we’ve put in place an elaborate examination and certification procedure that addresses the issue raised by the EU,” said Ajay Sahai.
