Gunit Chadha has decided to give up his post as the Chief Executive Officer at German bank after holding it for nearly 13 years.
In a short address to the colleagues on the bank’s website, the CEO of the Deutsche Bank, John Cyran said that Chadha has decided to leave the German lender officially on July 17, similarly not giving a reason for the departure.
Graduating from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad in 1984, Chadha has held senior positions in various industry forums- Board of Directors of Association of Merchant Bankers in India, Managing Committee of Indian Bankers Association, member of RBI’s Technical Advisory Committees, etc.
The 54 year old executive had started his career with Citibank, thereby serving as the MD and the CEO of the IDBI Bank between 2000 and 2003. And later he joined Deutsche Bank as the CEO for the Indian continent.
Following his promotions, he was also pointed the Co-CEO for the Asia Pacific region and later elevated to be the sole CEO in 2015, leading countries in the Asia Pacific region.
The bank was also awarded “The Best Bank in India” in 2010 by both the Asset and Businessworld, while he was serving as the Co-CEO, Asia Pacific.
“During this period our businesses in the Asia Pacific delivered substantial growth coupled with increased profitability.” Cyan mentioned in his note to colleagues on the Bank’s website.
The bank is yet to announce the successor of Chadha and is anticipated to do that in the due course of time. However, Chadha could not be immediately reached for a comment.
