India was one of the few bright spots for Apple in the second quarter earnings, where, it was found that, it was the largest growing market as China’s revenue fell down by 11 per cent.
In China, Apple slumped down to the No. 5 position with a share of 10.8 per cent of smartphones sold in May, around 2 percent down from the smartphones sold in the previous year, according to Counterpoint Technology Market Research.
Apple’s Khushboo Ponwar, the market development lead for AppStore and the online music selling library, iTunes, has been told to only focus on the Indian market.
Previously, Ponwar was responsible for the AppStore, Apple Music and iTunes workings in the Middle East, Turkey, Africa and India. However, Apple declined to comment on the change of the regions for Ponwar.
Besides selling their products, specifically the iPhones and Macs through the resellers in India, Apple is also looking forward to opening their magnificent stores here in India.
What promoted this move was Apple CEO Tim cook’s visit to India this year, having opened its new office in Hyderabad, he thus invested about $25 million and created up to 4000 jobs.
This centre is focused on developing Maps for iPhones, iPads, Macs and Apple Watch, and Tim Cook has also announced that a new accelerator facility in Bengaluru will be developed that would also support the entrepreneurs and app developers.
