Shah Rukh Khan’s home production Red Chilies Entertainment is all set to partner with Netflix for ‘Bard of Blood’, an eight-episode political espionage which is set in the Indian Subcontinent, according to a report. Based on Bilal Siddiqui’s 2015 bestseller of the same name, the storyline will follow the journey of Kabir Anand, an expelled spy who is recalled from his new life as a professor to fight for his country and long-lost love.
Talking about the tie-up, King Khan is excited to work with Netflix and he particularly mentioned the fact that Indian stories have proven time and again to create a global appeal. “We have always tried to create world-class content and entertainment from India. Netflix has shown that Indian stories have a global audience, and we would love to use to this platform and its reach to tell more stories,” Khan was quoted saying.
Netflix’s official Twitter handle also has a video announcing the tie-up, featuring SRK and Netflix chief executive Reed Hastings. Hastings, was also quoted speaking about the collaboration with Red Chilies. “It’s exciting to deepen our relationship with Red Chilies and expand our slate of originals in India,” he said. He further mentioned that he believes in Netflix’s global vision and is more than happy to deepen the bond with India.
