The 86th Academy Awards ceremony held at the Kodak Theatre on Sunday night (Monday morning in India) in Los Angeles. Gravity bagged 7 awards including the best director. Dallas Buyers Club gave Matthew McConaughey his first Oscar in Best Actor category.
Director Steve McQuee’s heart-touching movie 12 Years a Slave won the best-picture Oscar tonight.
Cate Blanchett won the Best Actress in leading role for her extraordinary performance in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine.
Hot favourite Matthew McConaughey received his maiden Oscar for his epic portrayal of an HIV sufferer in Dallas Buyers Club. He thanked god, his family and the team of Dallas Buyers Club.
Alfonso Cuarón won the Director Oscar for his amazing film Gravity. Gravity also bagged the most number of awards including Best Cinematography, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing and Best Visual Effects.
“What really sucks is that for a lot of these people that transformation was wisdom. For me, it was the colour of my hair,” Cuaron said while receive the award for best director.
The most-watched star studded event of the world began with announcing the winner of actor in supporting role category. Jared Leto has won the best actor in supporting role for Dallas Buyers Club.
Beautiful Lupita Nyong’o won the Oscar for her incredible supporting role in 12 Years a Slave.
“It doesn’t escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is thanks to so much pain in someone else’s, and so I want to salute the spirit of Patsey, for her guidance” the Kenyan actress said in her acceptance speech.
