Neel Sethi casts as Disney’s new Mowgli

Finally Disney got  Mowgli for its upcoming ‘The Jungle Book’. The 10-year-old Indian boy from New York Neel Sethi will be featured as Mogwli in “The Jungle Book.”

Confirming the report director Jon Favreau said in a statement, “Casting is the most important element of any film and finding the right kid to play Mowgli was imperative. Neel has tremendous talent and charisma. There is a lot riding on his little shoulders and I’m confident he can handle it.”

According to the studio, Neel was chosen from thousands kids who auditioned for the role from “New York to New Zealand, London to Canada, and all throughout the United States and India”

Casting director Sarah Finn said, Sethi has “the heart, humor, and daring of the character. He’s warm and accessible, yet also has an intelligence well beyond his years and impressed us all with his ability to hold his own in any situation. Even though he has no professional acting experience, his natural charisma and instincts jumped out at us.”

Based on Rudyard Kipling famous 1894 story ‘The Jungle Book’, Sethi will be only actor in the film while the rest of the characters will be computer-generated creatures.

Idris Elba is giving voice to tiger Shere Khan, while Scarlett Johansson play Kaa, Mowgli`s charismatic python friend. Lupita Nyong`o will lend his voice to Rakcha, the wolf who raises the boy as her own. Oscar winning British actor Ben Kingsley will lend the voice for panther Bagheera.

“The Jungle Book” is slated to release on Oct. 9, 2015.
