Jackie Chan’s longtime dream to win an Oscar finally got fulfilled when last Saturday at the annual Governors Awards he received an honorary Oscar for his contribution to the art of cinema.
The Chinese actor grabbed the little gold statuette and said, “After 56 years in the film industry, making more than 200 films, after so many bones, finally…”
The 62-year-old received the award in presence of his parents and chunk of celebrities like star Chris Tucker, Michelle Yeoh, Tom Hanks, including Denzel Washington, Lupita Nyong’o, Nicole Kidman, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Amy Adams and Dev Patel.
Along with Chan The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences honoured British film editor Anne V. Coates, casting director Lynn Stalmaster and prolific documentarian Frederick Wiseman.
