It won’t be wrong if we say that Indian film industry’s trend is slowly and steadily changing these days. Forthcoming movie, ‘Broken Horses’ is a testimony to it which has already become successful in alluring its viewers. Directed and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, ‘Broken Horses’ has received the honor to be called the first Hollywood film written, directed and produced by an Indian artist. It is really a progressive step ahead, at least coming out of the typical action-packed, emotional tortures, family dramas, and common love sagas, Indian filmmakers have started thinking about doing something out of the box. Vidhu Vinod Chopra has always made films with unique plots and bestowed gems like P.K and 3 idiots upon Indian cinema treasury.
Not only Chopra dared attempt this, but also has become successful and is receiving applauds from world-famous, prominent filmmakers. Its trailer was released by Amitabh Bachchan and Amir Khan and the international as well as Indian critics who have watched it are openly appreciating it.
The renowned director of Titanic and Avatar, James Cameron said, “Beautifully written, acted and imaged, this film wraps slowly around you like a king snake and squeezes.”
“The greatness of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s films comes from the fact that all his characters are driven by love.” said Alfonso Cuaron, the noted maker of Gravity and Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban.
Our Bollywood brigade too praised it including Vikramaditya Motwane who said, “Vidhu is someone whose work we’ve watched while growing up. Khamosh and Parinda are among the many other amazing films that he has directed.” Badlapur director Sriram Raghvan said, “Vidhu is back to action and drama, after a while. I’ve always loved his work.”
It is said that the top-notch premiere event has also been scheduled in Los Angeles, where along with his entire cast, Chopra has invited eminent filmmakers and friends including Alfonso Cuaron, James Cameron and many others.
One also hears that the computer and mobile game adaptation will be launched during this premiere release in Los Angeles. The game will interact with its players through the film’s story where two brothers are the main characters.
The movie is written by Chopra and Abhijat Joshi (PK, 3 Idiots, Lage Raho Munna Bhai), and stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Anton Yelchin, Chris Marquette and Maria Valverde. Cinematography is done by Tom Stern (The Hunger Games), production design by Toby Corbett (Bad Lieutenant) and background score by John Debney (Iron Man 2).
Set against the ferocious drug war backdrop of the US-Mexico border, the movie is a tale about brotherhood, loyalty, wise choices and strategies. The film is all set to hit the screens on 10 April, 2015 worldwide.
