Borrowed Time, a cross-generational comedy is the first movie of UK to be released in Tugg, a crowdsourcing platform empowering one to host screenings in local cinemas.
Tugg – an innovative platform of its kind enables the host to select date, showtime and cinema of their choice and provides an event page to book tickets. Once, the pre-set threshold limit is achieved, Tugg l reserves the cinema and manage ticketing along with ensuring the delivery of the film.
After premiering at 2012 Edinburgh International FilmFestival – the producers decided to raise P&A costs themselves. After a month-long Kickstarter campaign in January, it managed to raise £ 21,721 from 360 backers.
Produced by Olivier Kaempfer of Parkville Pictures, this Phill Davis starrer is directed by Jules Bishop. This movie will receive a selected cinema roll-out this month before it releases in DVD, iTunes, Blinkbox, Sky Store and Sky Box Office on 23rd September. It releases on FilmFlex on October 1st.
Borrowed Time undoubtedly provides an example how an indie film can survive in this saturated market where it can reach out to the wider audiences through digital platform and at the same time can be featured at the big screen.
