Catherine Breillat has been one of the international independent filmmakers to look out for. From her sexually explicit “Anatomy of Hell” to the recent Freudan fable “The Sleeping Beauty” or “The Bluebird” – she has been an ever challenging director of contemporary film world.
Her recent “Abuse of Weakness” played in Toronto International Film Festival is based on her autobiographical novel of the same title. Isabelle Huppert playing the stroke-afflicted director (Catherine) casts a con man to unfortunate result is the basis of the plot around which the movie revolves. The con man is played by Kool Sheen.
After being well received in TIFF, the film heads to New York Film Festival in October this year. She raised the bar for any film festival indeed ! The audiences worldwide wait for another treat from the director who shook them to the core with her brilliantly filmed dark-but-beautiful Fat Girl back in 2001. The eerie teaser is out already.
