THE TEST for all the cricket wannabes

Cricket, it is one of the most loved sports across the world. All the cricketing nations play this sport with pride and humility. The cricketers who represent their country at the international level consider it a privilege of the highest level. They not only get to showcase their talent to viewers across the world but also get to improve their skills whilst facing the toughest nations in this sport. The Australian cricket team is one of the many teams with the highest amount of skill and huge legacy behind them. But on one particular day, the team faces the world with humiliation and the legacy at stake.

“The Test” is a journey of the Australian cricket team from that day till they reach a point where they again face the world with pride and prove that they can endure any test as a team and re-establish their legacy.

It all happened on 24th March 2018 during the third day of the third test match between Australia and South Africa in Cape Town. Cameron Bancroft was caught using sandpaper to roughen the surface of the ball, which later came out to be called the ball-tampering scandal. Following this incident, the Australian captain Steve Smith, the vice-captain David Warner and Cameron Bancroft have been handed suspensions and charges. Then coach of the team, Darren Lehman, though cleared of any charges, has resigned from his post after the South Africa series, saying that he feels Australian cricket needs to move forward.

The web series shows the journey of the team since that event until they reclaim their glory by winning the famous “Ashes” series in England. Justin Langer takes over as the new coach of the team and strives to build the team from scratch after losing some of the key players. The discussions that happened behind the scenes were filmed and the series shows the test of character the team has endured to reach the final stage. After facing many failures in the initial series’, the team builds itself together to prove that they are not lost. Even after the return of Smith and Warner, the team couldn’t win the world cup. But the team showed huge self-confidence to win the Ashes series in England and retain the urn.
