How many of us have grown older reading Archie’s? l cannot give you the statistics on that one.
Released in 1940’s, the comics have always been a go-to for kids and people of the younger generations. So, naturally when Warner Brothers announced that a TV show would be made based off the comics in 2017, a lot of us were intrigued and waiting for the show to be released.
What the producers brought to the table, in terms of the TV show, was quite a shock to most of us Archie Comic’s fans.
Riverdale is an American teen drama television series based on the comic book characters. It was ordered to series at The CW in May 2016, and the 13-episode first season premiered on January 26, 2017, and concluded on May 11, 2017. It was adapted for television by Archie Comics’ chief creative officerRoberto Aguirre-Sacasa and executively produced byGreg Berlanti.
The TV show encases the darker, grimmer side of the comics, with the characters being brought to light through a severely angst filled, young-adult lens.
The show features an ensemble cast based on the characters of the Archie Comics, with KJ Apa in the role of Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, his next door neighbour who also happens to be crushing on him, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, his new love interest that just strolled into town and Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, his ex-best friend and the narrator of the show.
The show also features Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, the lead singer of the Pussycats, and Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, the twin sister of Jason Blossom, who is at the centre of the series’ mystery. Other characters in the show include Fred Andrews, Alice Cooper and Hermione Lodge, as the parentsof Archie, Betty, and Veronica respectively.
So besides the extremely attractive cast that are portrayed, if you have watched the trailer you will realise that the show brings to you, the mystery revolving around the murder of Jason Blossom and lives of the characters revolve around this plot line. The story evolves gradually on how their lives have been changed, how the shadows of their little town have grown after the murder and the most important question that remains to be solved, which is nothing but, who is responsible for the death of Jason Blossom.
Your impatience will catch up to you. You will be intrigued. And more importantly, the theories on why Jason was killed and who killed him, will be growing in your head as the plot twists erupt and collisions happen between the characters.
Hold onto the edge of your seats because you’re definitely in for a ride when you begin to watch Riverdale. I, on the other hand, cannot wait for the second season which is scheduled to debut on October 11, 2017.
