The 61st National film award has been announced on Wednesday and director Anand Gandhi’s path-breaking film ‘Ship of Theseus’ wins the best feature film for 2013. The Producer and the Director of the film will receive Swarna Kamal and Rs 2,50,000 each.
Marathi film Fandry has won the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film Of a director award.
Farhan Akhtar’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag won the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
Director Batul Mukhtiar’s Kaphal has won the Best Children’s Film for 2013.
Director Hansal Mehta’s remarkable film Shahid won him Best Director’s award. He will receive Swarna Kamal and Rs 2,50,000.
Actor Rajkummar Rao’s portrayal of slain human right activist and a lawyer Shahid Azmi also won him Best Actor. Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu also won the Best Actor award for his outstanding role in Perariyathavar.
The Best Actress award went to ‘Liar’s Dice’ actress Geetanjali Thapa.
While Saurabh Shukla won Best Supporting Actor for ‘Jolly LLB’, Aida El Kashef won Best supporting actress award for ‘Ship of Theseus’ shared with Amruta Subhash for Marathi film ‘Astu’.
‘Gulabi Gang’ is recognised for its powerful depiction of a crusader taking viewers deeper into the continuing struggles of the rural Indian women.
Bengali singer Rupankar won Best Playback singer (Male) for the song ‘E Tumi Kemon Tumi’ for the Bengali featiure film ‘Jaatishwar’, and Bela Shende won Best Female Playback for the song ‘Khura Khura’ in the Marathi film ‘Tuhya Dharma Koncha’.
