Meryl Streep to Play The Activist Emmeline Pankhurst

Finally the speculations have mellowed down about the cast to play the political activist Emmeline Pankhurst. Three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep is about to ink the dotted line for the role. She will be playing activist Emmeline in the women’s rights drama “Suffragette” if all goes accordingly.

She will be playing the role opposite Carey Mulligan in the movie. Sarah Gavron is helming Ruby Films’ drama. Abi Morgan famous for Shame has scripted the film.

The political drama revolves around the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement, women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State.
