It’s contrasting. Its very very contrasting. Perhaps, it reflects the dubious nature of Indian civilians. While, they are hunching for the death sentence of a rape accused – they are making the “deadly-raw” sex comedy Grand Masti cross 100 crore mark at the box-office. No, it’s not against the sex-comedy genre. But, it is the timing of the coincidence. One single person cannot thump his bench for the death sentence of the Delhi rape accused and haughtily go for the repeated viewing of Grand Masti and laugh out loud at the names of three female characters – Rose, Marry, Marlow! It is hypo critic!! its dubious ! And, if it is different persons who are watching this movie and making it cross a 100 cror mark – its dangerous!
And, this hypocrisy is reflected by a fantastic satirical video done by a group of stand-up comedians. Directed by Aswin Shetty, the video features Kalki Koechlin and Juhi Pande. The video was uploaded by All India Bak***d (AIB), a group of four stand-up comics – Rohan Joshi, Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba and Ashish Shakya.
The video has gone viral. It has also caught the attraction of the international online media – Al Jazeera, Huffington Post, etc. The satirical video has been targeted at the social mindset that blames the victim for molestation and sexual assault. It happens normally after every assault – the politicians inhumanly blame the victims for their provocative attitude or chowmein and mobile phones or more when they question their character – have all made it to the video. Kalki and Juhi repeatedly telling women viewers how every such attack is ‘their fault’. It ends with a montage of women from different age groups saying the words ‘It’s my fault’ repeatedly.
The words hit at the right place! It is getting raised eyebrows everywhere! – only if the satire is of any help to sensitize the insensitive 100+ crore infants!
