Veteran actress Zohra Sehgal passes away

One of the most respected Indian actresses and choreographer Zohra Sehgal passed away in a New Delhi hospital on Thursday. She was 102.

Zohra Sehgal had acted in many Bollywood films as well as appeared in many Hollywood films and television serials. Her popular films include Dil Se, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Veer-Zaara, Cheeni Kum, Saawariya and Bend it like Beckham.

As a choreographer Sehgal had worked in many hit films including Awaara, CID, Nau Do Gyarah, Baazi and Neecha Nagar.

She was awarded with Padma Vibhushan, Padma Shri, Kalidas Samman and Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship for her immense contribution to Indian art and culture.

In his condolence message, Amitabh Bachchan wrote on tweeter, “Zohra Sehgal passes away at 102 yrs ..what a journey and what an immensely loveable co star! Prayers for her blessed soul !!”
