Miss Honduras and her sister shot dead by sister’s jealous boyfriend

The police have arrested Plutarco Ruiz, the boyfriend of Miss Honduras Maria Jose Alvarado’s sister, for killing the siblings.  Their bodies have been found beside a river after meticulous searching for the last six days.

Maria Jose Alvarado (19) who was supposed to participate in upcoming Miss World beauty pageant in London later this week, was mysteriously disappeared with her sister Sofia Trinidad six days ago from a party. According to the police, Plutarco Ruiz got jealous when Sofia Trinidad danced with another man. He first shot her and when Alvarado was trying to escape, he shot her too.

Chief detective Leandro Osorio informed reporters that the bodies of siblings were found buried along the banks of the Aguagual River in the town of Arada.

“We are 100 percent sure that it’s them,” Osorio said.

Police arrested Ruiz and his partner in crime Aris Maldonado Mejia.

Organizers of the Miss World pageant issued their condolences and announced a tribute to the deceased beauty queen.

“We are devastated by this terrible loss of two young women, who were so full of life,” Julia Morley, the pageant’s chairwoman, said in a statement, adding, “We will be holding a special service with all of the Miss World contestants on Sunday, where we will be honoring the lives of Maria Jose Alvarado and Sofia Trinidad, and say prayers for them and their family.”
