Having been part of two 100 crore grosser – Tanu Weds Manu Returns and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo last year, Swara Bhaskar has an interesting line up of films releasing in 2016.
The talented actress will be seen portraying a challenging character in her upcoming movie, Anaarkali Aaraawaali wherein she plays the title role of Anarkali, a local singer of live performances of lewd and double-meaning songs and Nil Battey Sannata in which she plays the role of a determined mother of a stubborn teenager.
The versatile actor admits that she is very particular about the roles she decides to do. “I am not someone who picks up roles that I don’t want to do. I stand by all my work. I am a very greedy actor. I don’t like to give up roles where I have something to do,” she says adding, “If I am scared about how I would essay a role, then that is something that I will take up for sure.”
Swara feels she has been very lucky as far as her roles are concerned, be it commercial or art-house cinema. She says, “It’s all about the kind of roles you are getting. Luckily for me, the roles which I have got in my commercial films have also been meaty and have given me a chance to perform. People remember me for my characters.”
Swara insists she always tries to balance between big ticket and smaller films. “It’s not possible for any actor, who is not a star kid and has no major backing, to not do commercial films. You have no choice, you have to be a part of mainstream films to survive. No one remembers you for your small films and the audience you get is because of the commercial films you do. This balance is required,” she says.
