‘I would love to lend my voice to Shahrukh Khan’ says Gaurav Dagaonkar. With his mesmerizing composed songs in the movie ‘Heartless’, Gaurav Dagaonkar has begin his alluring 2014, the owner of enthral band ‘Synchronicity’ doesn’t require any introduction in the music industry after delivering magnetic Bollywood songs and mash-ups. The artistic singer Gaurav went candid with the Spectralhues and shares his plans for this year.
How did you discover your inclination towards singing?
Music was always a hobby for me I got into music when I was in engineering. Then I introduced to rock music in 12th standard by few of my friends during summer vacations. I volunteered for an intra college singing gradually I sang and I won the competition. That helped to boost my confidence and that was the time when my relationship with music became strong.
Isn’t Bollywood music seems too competitive in a present scenario?
Yes, there is a huge competition, but at the same time industry does have hand full of great music director’s. This era is accepting new talent with its open hands rather than choosing few voices which repeats in almost every song. I will say that this is the best time for any newcomer to have his footfall and to get establish in Bollywood industry easily.
Genres you’re most comfortable within all your songs?
After ‘Heartless’ I came to a feeling that soft music sooths my voice a lot. I always used to sing powerful and rock music, but now looking to the listeners choice I am shifting my genre to smooth and soft music more.
Where did you draw your influences and inspiration from?
Kishore Kumar has always been my inspiration, his crystal clear voice in all his songs make them more alive. I love listening songs of Udit Narayan, when I was in school. And even young singers like Atif Aslam and Arijit are nice singers and sings their soul out which inspires young talent a lot.
Music Director, you would like to work, and an actor you would love to lend your voice to?
If I were a singer, I would love to work with magicians of music, AR Rahman and Pritam. Also composers like Shankar-Jaikishan, R D Burman and A R Rahman have created an extravagant stuff one can learn from. I would and always wanted to lend my voice to the fantastic personality, Shahrukh khan.
You recently composed the music for the movie ‘Heartless’, want to share your experience?
Heartless keeps a special place in my heart. I had seen the screening of the film and I found it pleasing. I really feel happy being associated with the film not just because I am the composer of all the songs but because the film itself is very well made. Shekhar ji and Adhyayan was very much involved in the music and took it very sincerely. I am glad that songs got very nice opening and popularity.
Your one of the associated act is ‘Synchronicity’, how does it happen?
I was the vocalist of my college band in TSEC and absolutely enjoyed performing to a live audience. I also started writing songs during that period and realized that it was something I enjoyed doing the most and so it happens because of my wish to sing song by my own.
You are official brand ambassadors of Gibson guitars in India, tell us your feeling?
Undoubtedly, the feeling is remarkable. They have fantastic Ambassadors till now and being one of them made me feel lucky.
What’s next now, music-wise?
Actually lots of things! After ‘Heartless’, I have two more films lined up to release this year, An item song for the movie ‘Mahataj’ Starring Shreyas Talpade and Composing music for another romantic movie (Untitled). Mainly I am focusing on my band and glad to see that its popularity and fan following is increasing. I make sure that 2014 will bring something big for me and my band.
