Mr.India was a great hit back in the 80`s and is still remembered today due to the unique concept which it introduced in film industry. The film was a clear fantasy wherein a watch helps the lead hero to go invisible and fight against his rivals. The storyline which showed what can never happen in reality, turned out to be a major reason to pull in humongous audiences. Bollywood is back with same concept but this time in a little modernized and contemporary way.
Vikram Bhatt’s Mr.X which is a remake of an old film Mr.X in Bombay, which has already become talk of the town due to its ‘invisible hero’. Audiences believe that due to the magical addition of technical and VFX effects, this invisibility based film will surely turn out to be a double-treat this time; frosting on the cake is that this film will be out with both 2D and 3Deffects to enliven the experience.
While film teams are always after using interesting strategies to promote their movies at a larger scale, how can this one lag behind? To make it more appealing, Mr.X has collaborated with children`s favorite and lovable comic character Chacha Chaudhary. In one of the comical book editions, Emraan Hashmi, the main lead of Mr.X will be seen helping Chacha Chaudhary in solving the mystery case with the help of his superpowers. Emraan confirmed this news on twitter saying that he is a way too excited about this teaming up. Famous Chacha Chaudhary is sure to help out Mr.X to bag more and more audiences and especially kids and young children who are expected to get attracted towards this film.
Emraan Hashmi has never allowed his son Ayan to watch his earlier films due to ‘extra’ bold scenes in them. But, Mr.X is a family entertainer and this time Ayan is going to watch his father’s film for the first time. Obviously, Emraan is too anxious about what kind of response he will receive from his son after watching it. His son has always been a huge superhero hero fan, especially of BatMan, and the fact that Mr.X is not a superhero is growing his anxiety. Still, Emraan believes that his invisible avatar is sure to delight his little son.
About the basis of this film, Emraan told DNA, “Suddenly this man gets some super power where he becomes invisible and he can be seen only in certain kind of light. After becoming invisible, he decides to take on all the bad guys. There is a lot of VFX and 3D and it is a completely different kind of a science fiction film. I would call this as 21st Century’s Mr India. It brings in a darker, edgier and naughtier kind of Mr India to the table.”
Just by seeing a two minute teaser, many said that it is a work of pure plagiarism as one can make out the similarities between it and Mr.India or Hollow Man. One such similarity was of Emraan becoming visible after orange paint is thrown on him. When asked about this director Vikram Bhatt said, “Indian filmmakers are trying to create original, quality stuff so it`s sad when someone tries to bring down your film based on a two minute teaser. Just because Krissh flies, does it make him spiderman?” Further telling about the meager similarity, he added, “He`s visible through a lot of other mediums, underwater for instance. I don`t even remember what Hollow Man is about.”
It`s producer Mahesh Bhatt said, ”Mr.X is not Hollow Man or Mr.India reinvented but grew from a nostalgic yearning to revisit the Mr.X franchise. It had Ashok Kumar playing an invisible man, was produced by GP Sippy and directed by my father Nanabhai Bhatt in 1957.”
Well, whatever the matter is, the film seems intriguing and riveting at least from its trailer. But they will get the chance to firmly prove this on 17th April, 2015 as it is expected to release initially on that day! The film also stars Amyra Dastur as a lead heroine opposite Emraan Hashmi.
