Some days after the knockout video was taken down from Youtube, the Lucknow police has registered an FIR against the participants of the AIB Knockout Show, including actors Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, and roast master Karan Johar.
According to CNN IBN, a Lucknow-based activist, Kailash Chandra Pandey, also the convener of social set-up Rashtriya Shahri Vikar Samiti, has registered the complaint which states that the video which went viral a few days ago has ‘vulgar’ content and goes ‘against Indian culture’. Pandey, who found his nine-year-old son downloading and watching the video from Youtube on a cell phone after which he too watched it, disturbed him.
He said, “It is shocking for me to find my nine-year-old kid watching such a video. We should discourage circulating this stuff, or else it would have adverse effect on our culture.”
The charges under which the case has been filed are section 294 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (for obscene acts or words in public) and section 66 of the IT Act (for sending offensive messages through communication service, etc.) based on the complaint issued with additional chief judicial magistrate (ACJM-1) Suchi Srivastava.
A Mumbai court, according to NDTV, has ordered an FIR against the whole team as well as Bollywood icons after social activist Santosh Daundkar filed a petition against it, calling it a “commercial, vulgar, obscene and pornographic show”.
Many from the Bollywood town defended it, whereas some criticized it. Amir Khan, who publicly denounced it, said, “I felt it was a very violent event. Violence is not only physical; it can be verbal and emotional too. When you insult someone, you perpetuate violence.” In addition, he also made it clear that the decisions shouldn`t be unfair and others must not be punished if they haven`t really broken the law.
