The Delhi High Court rejected a petition seeking a stay on the release of an upcoming Hindi movie ‘Jolly LLB’ on Friday.
Chief Justice D Murugesan and Justice V K Jain bench dismissed the PIL saying it “lacks full details” about the movie.
“In our opinion, the petition cannot be entertained at this stage for want of full details. The petition is solely on the basis of trailer which is being exhibited on television and websites… There are no details of the circumstances on which the dialogues had been included in the scene and for that matter in the film,” the court said.
“The petition is on the basis of trailer and at this stage, it is difficult for us to find out in what context the dialogues have been used. We are not inclined to entertain this petition at this stage,” it added.
A group of lawyers had filed PIL in the court saying the dialogues and scenes from upcoming Bollywood film ‘Jolly LLB’ were defamatory.
The film starring Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Amrita Rao and Saurabh Shukla is scheduled to be releasedon March 15. Jolly LLB is directed by Subhash Kapoor.
