Chennai Express, Grand Masti and then it is Phata Poster Nikla Hero – the three awaited releases in two consecutive months. Bollywood is on a comedy cruise. With Grand Masti – a film by Indra Kumar promises to create a laugh riot for adults on September 13, Rajkumar Santoshi is all on with his Phata Poster on 20th.
Though the two has completely different genres and the target groups are different – but they precisely depend upon the youth. While Vivek, Aftab, Riteish starrer has a more precise and narrow TG – Santoshi can position the film as a family entertainer also. Given the success of Chennai Express, a Rohit Shetty comedy came to be a blockbuster early August – Phata Poster can aspire to that. It can be challenging since the former actor Shah Rukh Khan has an all-round fan base while Shahid Kapur has to rely mostly on youth. But the film has been hitting chords with the music by Pritam hitting the charts. The Aagal Baagal song by Mika has been a chartbuster already followed up by a romantic Main Rang Sharbaaton Ka by Aatif Aslam. The Dhating Nach song featuring on trailers lately seem to be grabbing eyeballs too. Shahid Kapur is back with his fabulous dancing skills. Both in Aagal Baagal and Dhating nach , he sets the screen on fire.
For both Vivek and Shahid, they have big releases later this year. While Vivek plays the Supervillain in Krrish 3, Shahid has a release in November in Prabhudeva’s Rambo Rajkumar. So, it’s a tussle for both the actors, once-so-successful-have-lost-ground to get back their positions at least.
