The festival of Holi being about colors, taking care of one’s skin and hair cannot be ignored. Here are your favorite Bollywood female leads, Deeepika Padukone, Vidhya Balan, Kriti Sanon, Shraddha Kapoor shares their plans for the fiesta & tips to take care of hair & skin and at the same time be able to ‘KhulKeKehloHoli’ this year.
Deepika Padukone
The much talked lady Deepika is rolled up in her busy Hollywood schedule. She says about Holi: “Holi obviously means color. But, for me it is also a festival where you can just be yourself! It’s a festival that allows us to really express ourselves through celebrations. Sometimes we need to let go of our inhibitions and reconnect with friends. And what can be a better occasion to do this than Holi! My earliest memory of the occasion is getting together with my friends, throwing water balloons filled with color at each other! We would wake up as early as possible and get dressed for the day. I would apply coconut oil generously before stepping out so that I could enjoy myself and not worry about damaging my skin or hair. My friends and I would get together, size up each other’s color inventory. This year I will be shooting for ‘The Return Of Xander Cage’. It’s a fun team! We are a family and we will definitely try and celebrate this festival together!”
Vidya Balan
The ‘Dirty Picture’ actress isn’t much different either. She too uses coconut oil for the protection of her hair against chemical and dust. She shares, “I’m shooting for Kahani-2, at the moment. So, unfortunately I’m not going to be celebrating Holi, unless we end up doing something on the set. I have lovely childhood memories of this festival. I remember my father used to fill balloons with water and we would tie them up. This used to start a few days before the occasion. What excitement and fun it had! (smiles)
As we grew up it became less about the balloons, but more about the colour, dancing and having a merry time. Over the years what I’ve done before stepping out to play Holi is to oil my hair with Coconut hair oil. Even if you don’t want your hair to look greasy, just oil it slightly and go out, so that colours and dust don’t end up damaging your hair. Maybe, after you have played you can oil your hair so the colour will come off easily.”
Kriti Sanon
“I love the festival and will definitely play Holi khulke with a lot of Gulaal and love. I prefer tying my hair while playing Holi to avoid tangles & any kind of hair damage. You can wear a side braid or a side ponytail to style it. And yes, a good sleep after playing Holi is all I need to detox myself. Also, I think, given the water situation in the country, people should adapt to playing this festival with Gulaal than with water. I am definitely going to do my bit this Holi, what about you?”
Shraddha Kapoor
The Baghi Girl in town says, “This year I have one off day from my OK JAANU schedule, so I will try and spend some time with family. One stand-out Holi memory was Mr. Bachchan’s Holi party that my parents had taken me too. It was very memorable. I love to dance to my favorite Holi song – ‘balam pichkari’.”
