After it went viral and was viewed by millions, AIB, late Tuesday night announced that the videos no longer existed on Youtube. The Roaster videos were taken down from Youtube by the comedians, after they found themselves amidst a controversy relating to the vulgar language used during the show attended by a fairly large audience, including the Bollywood top-notch.
The Maharashtra government has already made it clear that strict actions would be initiated if the group has violated any laws during the show. A state government board that assigns permits for live events and decides on the suitability of the content allegedly plans to ask the Mumbai Police to investigate the AIB roast, reported NDTV.
AIB Knockout generated quite a buzz last week after the team released the three-part Roaster videos on Youtube. The hour-long episode soon appealed to everyone’s minds, especially youth’s.
The AIB team’s attempt to touch the ‘private’ issue which no one dared to handle so far, turned out to be an obscene and foul kind of failure. Starring contemporary actors namely, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, roast master Karan Johar and AIB platoon, all of them unabashedly shot out insults, limitless f-words and below –the-belt jokes.
Following this, the Maharashtra Government finally declared that they will closely probe the roast video and take actions accordingly. Cultural Affairs Minister in the Maharashtra Ministry, Vinod Tawde has judged this as a highly vulgar video and firmly stated that an FIR will be lodged against the performers who performed without a legal license.
No sooner did this happen that a debate began on whether it is appropriate to initiate actions against the makers. Some said that the kind of language used was utterly vulgar, while others argued that it is specialty of a roast.
Bollywood jumped into supporting AIB, as did their fans, and hashtags supporting the team were trending on Twitter.
