Anne Fletcher is in talks to direct Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara in “Don’t Mess With Texas.” Fletcher who has movies like “27 Dresses,” “The Proposal” and “The Guilt Trip” in his credit is in negotiations for directing this MGM comedy.
Last June, Universal won the rights to the project. When it went into turnaround, MGM picked it up and is fully financing.
The plot is about a cop and a prisoner on the run in Texas, with crooked cops in hot pursuit. In the movie Witherspoon will play the officer and Vergara the prisoner. The script is written by David Feeney and John Quaintance.
