British author Hilary Mantel won this year’s Man Booker Prize for her novel ‘Bring Up The Bodies’.
This is the second time for Hilary Mantel to win the prestigious Booker prize. Last time she won the Booker prize for ‘Wolf Hall’ in 2009. She is also the first female author to receive double Booker Prize.
Mantel will get 50,000 pound ($82,000) as prize money.
In her acceptance speech, Hilary Mantel said, “You wait 20 years for a Booker Prize, and two come along at once, I regard this as an act of faith and a vote of confidence.”
Mantel beats Indian poet Jeet Thayil’s for his ‘Narcopolis,’ Malaysia’s Tan Twan Eng for “The Garden of Evening Mists,” and South African Deborah Levy for ‘Swimming Home,’ to win the award.
