Author Eric Carle dies at 91

Popular author & illustrator of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, Eric Carle, died on 23rd May after prolonging illness related to kidney. He was 91.

The announcement came from an official twitter account from the Eric Carle Team which read, “It is with heavy hearts that we share that Eric Carle, author & illustrator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and many other beloved classics, passed away on 23rd at the age of 91. Thank you for sharing your talent with generations of young readers.”

Eric Carle was born on 25 June 1929 in Syracuse, New York, United States. He was one of the greatest children books illustrator in contemporary times. He wrote and illustrated over 70 books which translated into 66 languages and has been selling more than 170 million copies.

Recipient of prestigious Children’s Literature Legacy Award, Mr. Carle also illustrated and wrote books like Brown Bear Brown Bear, The Grouchy Ladybug, The Very Busy Spider, The Tiny Seed, The Very Quiet Cricket etc etc.
