Book Review: Once Again… With Love!

When it comes to love stories, ditching and betraying is something we often hear about. Well, debutant author Abhirup Dhar’s first novel has a similar story but with a new twist.

The book tells us the story of Dev Chatterjee, a 31 year old working for a corporate company. He describes himself as ‘the wrong guy who has been at the right place at the right time’. Basically, he hates his job. Dev recounts his failed endeavours in love on his way to the Airport as he makes his way to Kolkata after six whole months.

Being a weak student of Accounts, Dev is forced to join tuitions for it. And that’s where he meets the vivacious, Priyasha. A girl who is confused about everything in life, from her relationship to what she wants to do with her life. Desired by all, Dev’s friend, Arnab falls in love with Priyasha and as he is a sissy and can’t propose to girls, persuades Dev to propose to her on his behalf.  But as expected, Dev falls in love with Priyasha. Thankfully for him, it was just a crush on Arnab’s side. Priyasha dumps her boyfriend for six years and starts dating Dev. Everything seems fine for some time as they make out in theatres and hold hands like love birds until Dev finds out that Priyasha never dumped her boyfriend. He gets over his heartbreak pretty quickly only to end up with another girl, Mishika, who he happens to meet at a wedding. However, to find more about the story, it is necessary or one to read it. Also you may find it difficult to stop reading once you begin. At least it happened to me.

With clever twist, interesting plot, funny situations and witty dialogues – first time author Abhirup Dhar has shown immense potential to become a popular writer in coming days. I am sure he will come up with many more brilliant stories in future.

The book’s cover page is really intriguing and the title is catchy. The cover totally suits the tale, so does the title.

The story commences in a fascinatingly manner but goes ahead to be somewhat predictable at times. No doubt the plot of the story is good and the characters are very well developed, although, the way the story is narrated is a little monotonous in between. However, the book is pleasant and easy to read. The characters are true-to-life and situations are themselves make the story come to life vividly. Besides, the story is refreshing.
