And because I am an Ashwin Sanghi fan, my second review is also going to be one of his theologically thrilling books, the third one in Bharata series titled ‘The Krishna Key’.
Starting with the genre, this book efficiently appeals to all kinds of people. Even though the genre is somewhat distinguished and indocentric, the contemporariness pleases to elders and teenagers alike. A fine sense of pace and peace, the main attraction of this book is the way it weaves history with mythology and presents itself in the most modern manner which goes as a very paradoxical mixture of genres. Nevertheless, the book’s appeal lies in its ability to enchant the reader into its thrill and threats.
The characters are smartly chosen, meticulously named. They are relatable and yes, really interesting. Saying anything more will give out spoilers!
The plot is thoroughly riveting and inter-weaved. It is not a multiple plot story perhaps, but yes, the factor of surprise and thrill of revelations and the most unexpected findings is spread all over the book till the last line. The story of Krishna himself forms the prologue to each chapter.
The book has a good and understandable language usage and never gets too dry, stretchy or overblown. Pretty much enjoyable and learning-worthy language.
The theories and facts as also the imagined circumstances and their proven yet fictional quality add the certain omega factor necessary just for the right amount of hopeless grip. And trust me, you will cry at the end because you never wanted the book to end. The only book that I have read twice just for its enchanting theories and close-to-reality fiction. Antithetical as it sounds, for many of this Indian Dan Brown’s readers, it is the truth!
The book will be loved by rationalists, extremists, liberals, mythology buffs, history lovers, budding theologists and a layman equally! Such is the versatile approach of the book! profound research and brilliant execution, this one is a milestone surely!
One request. If you actually want to enjoy the book, its historical mythology, its modern approach, its theories, please, do not crib over what is true and what is not. The book is creativity, not research journalism. Please don’t mar it’s story telling by being a corrector rather than a reader. When you can sit back and enjoy imaginative yet convincing plots, why exhaust your brains?
Rest assured, this book will be included in one of your favourite page-turners. That is my guarantee!
The link of the trailer is given. Do check out his other works, Chanakya’s Chant, The Rozabal Line and The Sialkot Saga, all of them equally good.
