Blurb:
The radiant new daughter-in-law of the influential Mehta family dies mysteriously on the very next night of her wedding. The murder is an inside job, the police are certain. It could be anyone, the adulterous husband, conniving in-laws, jealous friend and the love struck ex-fiance. With an aim to save themselves and incriminate others, it is not long before these suspects turn into amateur detectives, hunting for clues and delving into hidden secrets only they can unearth. They coerce, pry and blackmail in an attempt to get to the bottom of this mystery.
Will one of these nine unlikely sleuths finally unravel the mystery behind Gulab’s death and avenge it? Or will the truth die as viciously as Gulab?
Review:
“Happily murdered” is a story about Gulab Sarin, the resident weird girl of Ratnagiri, as the author calls her. She is found dead on the very next day of her marriage. The prime suspect is her friend and ex-fiance of her husband, as all the evidences go against her. But the truth is something else.
“Wow” is what I exclaimed as I read the last line of the book. I was deeply involved in the story for 2 days and that itself shows how well the author has pulled off the plot. Rasleen has done a great job with the script. It can easily be made into a movie, the events and scenes have been built that way. Each page makes way for a new thought about the murder but as the story unravels, you are just left stunned. The climax will definitely surprise you.
Appreciations:
Excellent narration skills are a must for any mystery and Rasleen has them abundantly. The emotions of a woman, the feelings of a man for his first love, attachment towards family and appreciating love as a selfless emotion have all been depicted amazingly. The plot unfolds just a right paces leaving the reader glued to the book till the very end.
