Indian Writer Jeet Thayil’s ‘Narcopolis’ Made It To Man Booker Shortlist

Indian writer Jeet Thayil’s ‘Narcopolis’ is among the six shortlisted books nominated for 2012 Man Booker Prize.

‘Narcopolis’ is a story based on Mumbai’s hazy world of opium addiction in the 70s and 80s. This is the debut novel of 53-year-old author.

Jeet Thayil was born in Kerala  in 1959. His father was famous writer and editor TJS George who was awarded with Padma Bhushan award. 

Previously Jeet Thayil has penned down four poetry collections. ‘These Errors Are Correct’, ‘English’, ‘Apocalypso’ and ‘Gemini’.

The winner will be announced on 16th October, 2012.

The Man Booker short listed six books for 2012 are:
