The king of dairy, Dr. Verghese Kurien, passed away on Sunday morning. He was 90.
Dr. Verghese Kurien, who is better known as the father of India’s ‘White Revolution’ was unwell for the last couple of months due to age-related problems. History will remember him as the man who gave vision and direction to the India’s co-operative movement.
Dr. Kurien single-handedly put a small town of Anand on the dairy map of the world with his vision and dedication. He changed India from a milk-deficient nation to world’s largest milk producer through his “Operation Flood”. He also made ‘Amul’ a popular household name.
India will miss “Milkman of India”! May god rest his soul in peace!
