It seems nobody can ignore Mamata Banerjee!
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee makes it to the list of 50 most influential people in the world of finance in the Bloomberg Markets magazine’s October issue. Mamata ranked in the 21st position under policy-makers category.
Bloomberg Markets magazine said, “Her (Mamata Banerjee) Trinamool Congress party, part of the ruling coalition, has stalled Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s economic reform agenda by opposing foreign retailers. Banerjee, 57, won a landslide in West Bengal in 2011 to end 34 years of communist rule”.
Mamata shares the space with U S Federal Reserve chairman Ben S Bernanke, European Central Bank’s president Mario Draghi and Myanmar political leader Aung San Suu Kyi. The list of 50 most influential finance people includes Warren Buffett, Mark Zuckerberg, Chung Mong Koo and Ben S. Bernanke.
Derek O’Brien, Trinamool spokesperson and MP told PTI, “This proves that she has successfully taken the issues of the common man onto the global stage.”
